Ken Wiatrek

Cardoza Fine Art 1320 Nance 77002

March 28th – April 24th

Opening March 28th , 7 – 10pm

Cardoza Fine Art is pleased to announce RELICS a solo exhibition of new paintings by Ken Wiatrek.

Wiatrek departs from challenging society and culture and presents us with a meditative theme for his new body of work. Choosing repetitive patterns and monochromatic color schemes Wiatrek creates paintings that act like a group of people insistently whispering a soothing idea in unison. The themes of Wiatreks paintings have changed and the content has shifted from representational to abstract yet there remains a commitment to geometry and the combination of design elements with brush work.

Wiatreks recent solo exhibitions include “If, Then: Current Task”, Goldenen Pudel (Hamburg, DE) 2010 and “If, Then: (Die) Liberate Binary”, Galerie Auf Halb Acht (Hamburg, DE) 2011. Working with Chickenboy, while operating under the moniker “Ken Consumer”, Wiatrek was a pioneer of the Houston street art scene in the late 90’s. Also, Wiatrek founded or has been a part of several art spaces around the US and Germany including OneTen Studios, Texas Firehouse, and Elektohaus. Ken was born in the U.S. but currently lives in Hamburg, Germany.
